Day 1: Cultural Encounter in Sibundoy

  • Upon arriving at Pasto Airport, we'll welcome you before traveling to Sibundoy, where a local guide from the Kamentsa indigenous community will receive us and lead us through a cultural immersion. We'll explore the indigenous cabildo house and cultural museum to learn about the history and traditions of the Kamentsa people, then finish the cultural tour at the Interculturality Park, where we'll admire hand-carved wooden masks and discover the symbolism each one holds for the indigenous community.
  • We'll enjoy a typical regional lunch at an indigenous woman's art gallery, where alongside admiring her canvas works, you'll have the opportunity to purchase local handicrafts.
  • At the emblematic Casona Mama Señora, we'll experience a unique sensory journey designed to deepen our spiritual connection with the natural world. Led by a master practitioner through immersive sounds and guided meditation, we'll allow every cell of our body to resonate in harmony — seeking inner healing and renewal in a space of peace.
  • To close the day, we'll enjoy a guided craft exhibition with the renowned Master Gerardo Chasoy, who will share his technique and the inspiration behind his one-of-a-kind pieces. With skill and passion, he carves animal faces and indigenous figures in wood, inlaid with chaquiras — glass beads — bringing deep expressions of ancestral culture to life.
  • We'll have a light meal before heading to our accommodation to relax and rest.

Day 2: Sacred Weavings That Intertwine Stories

  • Breakfast at the accommodation.
  • We head to Santiago — a charming municipality in Alto Putumayo — where the Jacanamijoy family will welcome us. In their home and workshop, we'll discover their precious ancestral legacy. The grandmother will invite us to gather around the tulpa — the sacred hearth — where she'll share her wisdom and guide us in understanding how the colors and forms of the sacred chagra are transformed into beautiful pieces handwoven in chaquira. Each symbol and each color tells a profound story, and you'll witness the love and dedication poured into every piece as we share ancestral stories in a space of connection and respect.
  • After this warm visit, we'll enjoy a delicious regional lunch.
  • In the afternoon, we'll make another special visit — this time to the Pakari Association, where Sandra will welcome us into her home and ceremonial space with a harmonization ritual to prepare us for the experience ahead.
  • We'll then visit the workshop, where we'll join the women weavers to learn the art and knowledge of traditional weaving. Alongside the grandmothers, we'll explore the tools of the craft, the history behind the symbolism woven into each piece, and — for those who feel inspired — the chance to participate in creating a design of their own.
  • At the end, you'll have the opportunity to take home one of their pieces — a unique and story-filled keepsake.
  • Before returning to the accommodation, we'll have dinner in the village and take a short evening stroll to discover its nocturnal charm

Day 3: Masks of the Soul — Creation & Connection

  • After exploring and connecting with the art of this sacred valley, today we'll visit a craft workshop where the artisans will invite us into the creative process — sanding and painting our own mask using natural dyes. While our piece dries, we'll be treated to healing music performed by our local hosts, immersing ourselves in an experience of calm and deep connection.
  • In the afternoon, we'll head to the Ambiaku thermal springs to unwind.
  • Dinner and transfer to the accommodation in Sibundoy.

Day 4: Barniz de Pasto — Mopa Mopa Art

  • After breakfast, we head to Pasto, where our local host will welcome us to discover the art of Barniz de Pasto.
  • This art form uses a natural resin extracted from the mopa-mopa tree — a plant native to the Amazonian region. The resin is harvested and, through a heating process, transformed into a malleable sheet that is then dyed in vibrant natural colors. Artisans apply the varnish to wood, ceramic, or even gourd surfaces, creating intricate designs through precise cutting and layering.
  • We'll then enjoy a typical lunch to suit every palate — either the classic frito pastuso or the traditional roasted cuy.
